Former SGF, Olu Falae Kidnapped On His Birthday

The former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Chief Olu Falae, was on Monday kidnapped on his farm at Ilado Village in Akure North Local Government area of Ondo State.
Coincidentally, the incident took place on his birthday as he was born on September 21, 1938.
Falae, 77, who is the National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), was reported to have been kidnapped at 1.00pm.
The wife of the former SGF, Rachael told journalists that her husband called and informed her that he had just been kidnapped and the line went off immediately.
Also at about 3:20pm, the Publicity Secretary of the SDP, Mr Remi Olayiwola, informed journalists at the entrance to the house of the Septuagenarian the abductors had called to demand for ransom of N100m.
Journalists, who came to the house were barred from gaining access into the house located on Oba Ile Road.
"Somebody, whose accent sound like that of a Fulani called few minutes ago and said baba is safe with them. The man said we should pay N100 million between today and tomorrow".
"Baba 77 goes to his farm everyday and nothing like this had happen before, it is unfortunate", he said.
The Ondo State Government had condemned the act out rightly.
The Commissioner for Information, Mr Kayode Akinmade described the act as unfortunate and condemnable by everybody.
Akinmade in a telephone interview said the act shows the level of decadence in the country and clearly indicates that nobody is safe.
