ORTOM, ABOUNU, MEET LG STAKEHOLDERS, REVIEW BAILOUT PAYMENT

Governor Samuel Ortom, and his deputy, Engr Benson Abounu, this evening met with caretaker chairmen, Directors of General Services and Administration, DGSA's, labour leaders, bailout committee members and ICT experts, to review the bailout disbursement at the local government level.
The meeting was held at the old Banquet Hall of the Benue Peoples House in Makurdi.
Special Adviser, Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Titus Zam, informed the meeting that teachers in all councils have been paid bailout for four months, January to April, 2015 while other staff have been paid March and April with payment of the remaining two months for them ongoing.
It was unanimously agreed that e-payment adopted for bailout disbursement was the best.
That efforts be intensified to rectify all technical efforts inhibiting efficient disbursement.
Issues of ommission of names, shortage of amount, and all other lapses be addressed by DGSA'S, and Treasurers in collaboration with the ICT centre of the Bureau.
That retired and dead workers who worked for the bailout would be sorted out before the conclusion of the exercise.
That the exercise would be concluded by 18th November, 2015.
That the bailout committee should engage with the public through phone in radio and other programs.
Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, State chairman, Comrade Godwin Anya, and State Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Comrade Terungwa Igbe, expressed appreciation and satisfaction with their involvement and transparency of the exercise and pledged support.
