ORTOM THREATENS TSAV WITH N1 BILLION SUIT, KWAGHNGU CLAIMS N200 MILLION

By Tahav Agerzua

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom’s lawyers have threatened to slam a N1 billion suit against Alhaji Abubakar Tsav.
This came on the heels of a suit which Mr. Abrahams Kwaghngu, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor filed at the Makurdi High Court claiming N200million from the former Lagos Police Commissioner.

Governor Ortom, through his counsel, Prof. Anthony Ijohor a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, wrote to Alhaji Tsav to tender an unreserved apology to be published in at least three national dailies or be prepared for the N1 billion suit.
Both Governor Ortom  and Mr Kwaghngu complained that Alhaji Tsav had embarked on a deliberate campaign of calumny against them.

The Governor complained of a publication in the National Daily newspaper of Monday, 6thJuly 2015 attributed to the former police man while Mr. Kwaghngu is seeking damages for what the same man published against him in the Nigerian Pilot newspaper of 31st, August 2015.
According to the letter written by T.D Pepe Esq, for A.A Ijohor, (SAN) and Co, Alhaji Tsav’s publications, direct utterances and insinuations have portrayed the Governor in bad light to the whole world, the people of Benue State in particular and Nigeria as a whole.

The letter seeks a retraction of above publication within seven days.
In suit number MHC/251/15 filed at the Makurdi High Court, Mr. Kwaghngu has sought N200 million for defamation and libel.

He also seeks a declaration that the publication by Alhaji Tsav against him was false, mischievous and unsubstantiated.
Mr. Kwaghngu who also sued DOM Communications Limited, publishers of Nigerian Pilot newspaper for the same amount, also seeks an order directing the defendants to publish a retraction in three national dailies, the Nigerian Television  Authority, NTA, Radio Benue and Harvest FM.
