ORTOM GETS AWARD FOR AMNESTY PROGRAM
…DESCRIBES ACF AS PILLAR OF NORTHERN UNITY

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom today received an award from the Nigerian Television Authority,NTA, for the amnesty programme initiated by his administration.
Outgoing Zonal Director of the authority, Mr. Ishaya Adamu, presented the award to the Governor at the Benue Peoples House in Makurdi.
Mr. Adamu stated that with enhanced peace which the amnesty program had guaranteed, staff of the media house go about their duties without fear of molestation, stressing that the development has enhanced their performance.
He said the award would have been presented to the Governor during the 2015 Christmas Carol but that he was unavoidably absent hence its presentation to him at a later date.
Governor Ortom expressed appreciation for the award saying it will encourage him to do more to secure lives and property in the State.
He commended Mr. Adamu for what he described as his meritorious service to the Nigerian Television Authority leading to his retirement with honour.
“It is rare for people to serve for a long period and retire honorably as many are either dismissed or retired compulsorily," he stressed.
In another development, Governor Ortom today described the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, as the pillar of unity for the people of the North.
He spoke when he received a delegation from the forum led by Col. John Uba, retired, Secretary General of the organization.
The group came to pay a condolence visit on the demise of Tor Tiv IV, Dr. Alfred Torkula.
Governor Ortom urged the people of the North to unite and fight to overcome common challenges which he listed as poverty, ignorance and disease.
The Secretary General had described the death of Tor Tiv, who he said was a foundation member of the organization as a big loss and prayed that God would give the government and people of Benue State the fortitude to bear the loss.
